Don't be a Fool!

Don’t be a Fool – get down to Barnard Castle on 1st April for a farmers market full of Easter promise!

Whilst we did contemplate the biggest April Fool joke we could play for the next farmers market at Barnard Castle – perhaps randomly moving it to another venue , not turning up at all or renaming it the “Barbara Castle” farmers market as one stallholders spell check helpfully called it.. really lets hope the weather does not play any tricks on us as we emerge from the warmth of the Witham Hall to our usual spot on the cobbles

Following the foolish theme though – how about some fruit fools from Renaissance Cakes or comedy vegetables from Bluebell Organics? It’ s probably better to think about Easter instead which is only 2 weeks after the market with many of the stallholders having Easter offers – how about mini egg brownies from Forge Lane or giant hot cross buns from Sue’s Bread? Loopy Lisa will have some hot cross fudge and Turk’s Head some Easter chutney. Even more traditionally, Alison’s Country Pantry will have simnel cakes and Hartwood Poultry will have 10% off all whole chickens if you need something great for Easter Sunday lunch…

All this is alongside all our regular stallholders such as Just William with his award winning 4 seasons marmalade and great other local produce such as honey, sausages, cakes and where would Easter be without chocolate? Our local producer Kacoa is sure to have many treats for that special Easter treat.

New to the market this month also we are welcoming a great award winning pie company called Pie Jackers who have already won awards in the British Pie Awards for their Hotshot Chicken pie and Steak, Guinness and Black Pudding pie

As well as the ever popular raffle to win a bag full of market goodies – April really is a great time to head down to Barnard Castle Farmers Market
